12 days left to go... And still no magic "McSurge" that could instantly send McBush-Failin' to victory. That's what tonight's new CBS-New York Times poll shows.
Obama (D) 52%
McCain (R) 39%
Essentially, no change from last week's results & the results from earlier this week. At this point, McCrazy needs to pick up just over 1% a day just to get to a tie. Sounds doable? Not quite.
Remember that no candidate has ever in the history of modern polling has come from this far behind to win a Presidential Election. Even in 1980, Reagan came from behind with still over a month to go. But with only 12 days to go in 2008? Bye, bye McCrazy.
So does this mean we get complacent in victory? HELL, NO!!!! Again, let's keep working as hard as we can to make this win so BIG that there's no way the GOP can steal it from us.

CBS-NYT Sez: No Mo' McSurge
Despite all the media hype last week about another "McSurge" in the polls, today's new CBS-New York Times poll puts that myth to rest.
Obama (D) 54%
McCain (R) 41%
Oh yes, and the new CBS-NYT poll shows that previously undecided voters are now moving... TO OBAMA! Whoops! I guess the corporate media will need a new excuse to try to spin this race into "a dead heat".
While I DEFINITELY do not want us to get complacent in "expecting victory", I do think this should encourage us to work even harder to put that final nail in the coffin of not only the McBush-Failin' campaign, but the entire ugly Rethuglican ticket of 2008! As McBush said himself, "We got 'em right where we want 'em". Only now, that applies to us having the GOP cornered. ;-)

Here Come CBS & The New York Times!
Hot off the presses! Here's the new CBS/NYT poll!
Obama (D) 53%
McCain (R) 39%
Basically, McCain's low-blow attacks are backfiring on him... BIG! His approval ratings are falling while Obama's stay steady. Meanwhile, Obama is now growing his advantage on who can be trusted on the economy & the Iraq Occupation.
Let's see what happens at tomorrow's debate. As long as Obama continues to hold his own as McCain falls to the gutter, I think we'll be in for a good November 4. :-)

NEW CBS-NYT Poll: 9%??!!
Yep. 9%. That's Obama's lead in the newest CBS-New York Times poll!
Obama (D) 50%
McCain (R) 41%
This is yet another poll released this week that shows Obama with a widening lead. With economic woes front and center, Obama and his clear economic plan for action look much more attractive than McCain and his erratic behavior. Oh yes, and it helps that Obama's now jumping ahead in key swing states like Florida & Ohio.
Still, we shouldn't get complacent! We have another month left until election day, and anything can happen between now and then. That's why we need to keep up the good work. Let's work our behinds off like we're 10% down so we can win by the biggest margin possible! :-)

CBS-NYT Sez: Obama Stilll Up
Obama (D) 48%
McCain (R) 43%
Here are the new CBS-New York Times numbers. McCain gains slightly among Independents, but Obama gains slightly among Democrats and Republicans. They cancel each other out, so the final numbers are unchanged and Obama remains +5.
McCain holds an edge on most national security issues, but his numbers on Iraq are slipping. Meanwhile, Obama continues to gain on the economy. Overall, Obama is more trusted to make change happen while McCain still looks like a third Bush term.
Overall, the CBS-NYT numbers still look good for Obama.

BREAKING: CBS/NYT Poll Has Obama +5!
No, I'm not kidding! Here are the numbers:
Obama-Biden (D) 48%
McCain-Palin (R) 43%
Obama was down 2% in the last poll just last week... So this dramatic 7% shift is a HUGE rebound for us! What looks big to me so far is that white women, Independents, and voters who care most about the economy are shifting back to Obama. Oh yes, and with the economy being the #1 issue on voters' minds in this poll, this presents a major opportunity for Democrats.
So what should we get out of this hot new poll? Basically, Obama needs to hammer home his economic message. Keep talking about how Democrats will solve the problems that led to the current financial crisis and mortgage mess, and don't take the GOP bait on "culture war" crap.
If these numbers hold up in the coming weeks, we'll be in a good position for November 4. :-)
