Thank You

I just wanted to thank the C40's, especially atdnext for giving me an opportunity to contribute at this wonderful site.  As I have stated many times, I have nothing but respect for Clinton supporters who are now actively supporting the Obama campaign and his run for the presidency. It cannot be easy, and I will do my part to walk alongside of you.

Now on to my VP speculation...I believe it is down to three individuals....Drum roll please...
In no random order...

Hillary Clinton
Joe Biden
Wesley Clark

Before you admit me to the loony bin, I firmly agree with Todd Beeton at Mydd.  Obama needs a scrapper, someone who will get down in the mud with the Rovian machine and duke it out.  This way he can maintain his image of a "different type of Washington".  McNasty has already diminished his image of a "maverick" and I'm not sure he will be able to retrieve it.

I would take any of three and be happy (even Dodd would make me smile).  But I am partial to Clark with HRC running a close second.

Again thanks for letting me be part of this fantastic community and share your thoughts on the VP scenario...

I agree with your top 3 picks. I can't see it being anyone else. But I sure hope it's not Biden. He's such a boring blowhard.

Originally I didn't want Clinton to be the VP nominee; I didn't think it would be the best use of her talents. But as I get increasingly nervous about the closeness of the election, I am reconsidering. I know Clinton would be willing to do what is best for the Democratic Party and the country. And we certainly need her indomitable fighting spirit.

Your picks are the same as mine, and in exactly that order. I can't believe Obama's considering someone as dull as Bayh. McCain is going hard negative for a reason - it works. Obama needs someone with an iron fist at his side to counter the right wing noise machine.

Think what you will about David Gergen, but on the day HRC suspended her campaign he made that comment that if the race is within seven points in early August, Obama will go with Clinton because he will need the buzz and boost. And if he was up 7 or more in early August he'd pick from the rest of the list.

I almost want to say Obama no longer has the luxury of picking someone he would prefer to work with -- he now has to go with someone who could potentially blast McCain out of the water. As much as any of us might be attached to one pick over the other, the only name on that list that brings it's own fire is Clinton.

The big question is, will that move be interpretted as weakness, as his "needing" Clinton. If that's how it will read he won't want to go with her no matter what else she brings.

I'm sorry, but I just don't get the all the affection for Clark. To me, he never seemed comfortable on the campaign trail. And has he's never been a candidate all the way through an election, he's a risky pick.

For reasons I've already stated, I don't want Hillary because. My first choice is Biden. He can be long-winded, but he is BRILLIANT on the attack.

hootie-

Welcome aboard! We're glad to have you here. Oh yes, and great VP picks. If I can't have Hill, I'll be just fine with Wes. :-)
