Hooray! Senate seat #58 is OURS! Democrats are closer to the 60 seat dream.
This is breaking on MSNBC. I'll grab a linky as soon as I can get one. Right now, convicted felon & Republican incumbent Ted Stevens is trailing by 3,724 votes. Right now, there only about 2,500 votes left to be counted.
So yippee, Democrats win... IN ALASKA! You betcha! :-D

Yes, We Did!
Yes, I'm back home now. And yes, I wanted to congratulate all of us for all we did to make victory happen. Thank you so much!
We've lived through a whole lot in these last five months. We've seen all the ups and downs of the campaign. And now, we WON! Thanks to us, we have a Democratic President & a better & stronger Democratic Congress.
So can we all just take a break now? NO! OK, I guess we can take it easy tonight. But starting tomorrow, we have work to do. We have a President-elect to support, a party to continue building, and yes... We have errors to fix. Our victory could have been bigger & better in places like California & Arizona that lacked needed support & infrastructure, but the GOP caught a lucky break when "The Big Blue Wave" forgot to wash ashore when it left Nevada.
So what next? Honestly, we're still figuring out the details. Mainly, I'm thinking we need to remember what we stand for as Democrats, how to fight for our values, and how to keep winning. So please, please stay tuned. We have more to do & more to win!

How the West Can Be Won
In case you missed it, check out this gem in today's LA Times. Sen. Ken Salazar (D-CO) talks about his own experience getting elected in Colorado, and explains how Democrats win in the interior West (meaning the land between the Great Plains & the Pacific Coast states). It's a fascinating read.
Even though I'm one of those "Left Coast Californication Hippie Freaks", I understand that Democrats like Ken Salazar & Jon Tester don't campaign in the same way that Barbara Boxer & Patty Murray do. While environmental & natural resource issues and are also HUGE inland, one has to pursue this & other issues in a different way. But when Democrats get the "Western Mentality", Democrats win there just like they win here in The Golden State.
So anyways, take a look here & tell me what you think about winning The West.

Barack Slipping... Does He Now Need Hillary?
I'm sure you've seen some of the recent polls. And yes, Obama's been slipping from slight lead to dead heat. This was not what Democrats were hoping for earlier this year.
But hold on... Can there be a silver lining here? Possibly. Out of political neccessity, we may end up with "The Dream Ticket".
OK, so what am I talking about? Look at this map. See how well Hillary Clinton was doing against John McBush in most of the swing states where Obama's struggling now? And come on, don't we need a boost now in New Hampshire, Ohio, Florida, & Nevada? And shouldn't we give McBush a run for his money in West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, & Arkansas?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again now. An Obama/Clinton ticket will crush the Rethuglicans in a landslide this fall! Democrats must win this fall for the good of this nation, and a Barack/Hillary dream ticket is exactly what we need now to guarantee victory in November.
So do you feel the same way I do? If so, we still have time to make noise. Let's make sure we win this fall. :-)
