When asked by Gibson if under the NATO treaty, the U.S. would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help."
War on Russia??!! Seriously??!! What the hell? Are we back in The Cold War? Oh wait, that's right... THESE NEOCONS WANT ANOTHER HOT WAR!
This is frightening. While there's plenty we need to do on the diplomatic front to prevent another Russia-Georgia crisis, the last thing we should do now is threaten war. McCain & Palin clearly aren't ready for the White House, especially if they want to become Bush & Cheney on steroids.

What she said was factually correct. If Georgia is part of NATO, then an attack on it would be considered an attack on all NATO members and require a response. However, saying it out loud for all to hear is complete folly.
Reagan managed to end the Cold War with Russia. McCain and Palin seem willing to go to war with Russia.
Remember when Hillary was lambasted for talking about obliterating Iran? That's nothing compared to this. (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08n4bj1Mz4A)
As a person who grew up in the Cold War, you cannot imagine how chilling it is to hear her say that we would have to go to war with Russia in any circumstance. Whether or not she is technically correct, it is unspeakable and unthinkable, and her cavalier attitude toward this is astonishing.
She did not say she wanted to go to war. you people hear want you want to hear. To be fair as a member of NATO we would have to back each other up. Thats what she said. You know I am not for Mc Cain but fair is fair.
She did not say she did not want to go to war. That was the more serious breach. War with Russia is off the table as a topic of discussion among responsible politicians. It was a total gaffe.
